This 5 Days Gorillas & Chimp Safari: you will track the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, home to the largest diversity and number of primates in East Africa including,: chimpanzees, Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Red-Colobus, Phoestes, Red-tailed monkeys and the Blue monkeys as well as enjoy a nature walk in the Bigodi wetland swamp sanctuary for bird watching. You will also be able to visit Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for the highlight activity of Gorilla trekking. The park is popularly known as home of mountain gorillas which are among the endangered species in the world today.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Approximate Travel time: 7 Hours

After an early breakfast, our safari guide will meet you, brief you about the safari, and then start on the journey to Kibale Forest National Park driving westward along the Mityana-Fort Portal road. You will enjoy views of the beautiful countryside and have lunch along the way before arriving at the park. At the end of the day, you will check into your accommodation for dinner and the overnight

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking-Nature walk Bigodi Wetland sanctuary

You will have early breakfast before going for a briefing by the park warden. After that, you will set off for an amazing expedition to track chimpanzeestarting at 8.00 a.m. Along the way you will encounter other primates while in the forest such as Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Red-tailed monkeys, Red-Colobus, Blue tailed monkeys as well as L’hoestes and everal birds, insects and colorful butterflies. After lunch, you will set out on a nature walk to explore the Bigodi wetland sanctuary  an eco-tourism site where you will see a number of rare plant as well as animal species including the largest antelope species; the Statunga. There are various birds including: the Great blue TuraccoNarina Trogon, Rwenzori Turaco as well as the little Bulbul.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After an early morning breakfast at your accommodation, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and have lunch along the way. You will check in direct to your lodge for overnight stay as you prepare for the next morning adventure experience.

Day 4: Gorilla Trek – Cultural Entertainment

You will be treated to an early morning breakfast before heading out for the early morning briefing by the park warden about the “do’s and the don’ts” while on this activity. You will set out deep in the forest led by guides and rangers as you search through the thick vegetation for gorillas. You will traverse through the forested muddy slopes until you eventually meet the gorillas. The trek may take anything between 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. On finding them you will be allowed one hour in their presence for purposes of their observation. You will observe them go about their day to day routine and even take photos and capture videos. It’s a very exciting moment coming face to face with these gorillas. You will be amazed by the huge size of the silverback which is the dominant male, they can grow to a weight of 230 kilograms and reach a height of over 1.8 meters In the evening, there will be an optional cultural experience with the Batwa people who you will interact with, visit some of their local project and enjoy traditional entertainment of music dance and drama. At the end of the day’s activities, you will return to your accommodation where you will have your dinner and rest for the night the night.

Day 5: Return to Kampala – End of safari

You will enjoy early breakfast, check out of your lodgings and then start on the journey back to Kampala, driving through the beautifully-terraced escarpments in the southwestern part of Uganda, through the stunning rugged hills known as ‘the little Switzerland of Africa’. You will have lunch in Mbarara town, home of the long-horn Ankole cattle. Eventually you will arrive in Kampala and depending on your flight you will be transferred to the airport. This will be the end of this exciting Safari.

In Uganda Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking is done throughout the year and the gorilla permit goes for $700 per person while the chimpanzee permit goes for $200 per person and payable through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or through our Company


Requirements for the safari

  • Gorilla permits should be paid in advance through our Company or Uganda Wildlife Authority.
  • Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
  • Good physical, fit health and mental condition.
  • Uganda Visa which can be got on arrival at the Airport.
  • Travelers must be at least 15 years old on the day the trekking.
  • Travel & Health insurance arranged from your home Country.
  • Hiking shoes.
  • Water proof Jacket.
  • Long Sleeves shirt & Waterproof Pants.
  • Warm Jacket.


Standard 4X4 Safari Vans/Land cruisers

Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari van and Land cruisers with open roof tops customized for game viewing and photography.  Each Safari van/Land cruiser comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. Each client is entitled to a window seat and can take up to 8-10 people. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up 6 people with their luggage also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.
