This 3 Day Gorilla trekking safari Rwanda starts and finishes in Kigali City. It encompasses a city tour in Kigali as well as a gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes National Park is best known for the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei). There are also reported to be some elephants in the park, though these are now very rare. The park has over 178 recorded bird species, with at least 13 species and 16 subspecies endemic to the Virunga and Rwenzori Mountains.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda

Today you will arrive at the airport where a representative from Ssemambo Tours & Travel who will welcome you, brief you about the tour, and then drive you to your hotel were you will have dinner and spend this night.

Day 2: Kigali City tour

Today, you will have an early morning breakfast and then set off for a city tour within Kigali. During this you will visit a number of fascinating places like the museum, handicrafts shops as well as the Gisozi Genocide Memorial. In the afternoon after your lunch, you will continue to Ruhengeri situated close to Volcanoes National park, the home of the mountain gorillas where you will dine and spend the night.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Adventure

This is the final day as well as the most rewarding day on this safari. After a very early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters and there you will meet the park warden who will brief you on the do’s and don’ts of this amazing activity. You will also be assigned armed park rangers and guides who will lead you on this trek. By 8:30am, you will be in the forest searching for these fascinating forest giants led by the forest guides until you eventually find the respective gorilla family. Once you meet them, you will be allowed an hour in their presence, observing them feed, play, cater for each other as well as tend to their young ones. During this time you will be allowed to take photographs and record videos however please avoid any flash photography. At the end of the trek, return to your accommodation to freshen up and then return to Kigali for your departure flight.
