This 6 Days Uganda & Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari: takes you to two countries with interesting activities to enjoy. While in Rwanda, you will visit Volcanoes National Park for gorilla and  golden monkey tracking. In fact, this park is famous for the Eastern mountain gorillas as well as other primates species. Additionally, it became a base for an American naturalist Dian Fossey to carry out her research on the gorillas. During this safari, you will also visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is among the most visited national parks. As a matter of fact, this park hosts half of the world's population of the Eastern mountain gorillas. Besides mountain gorillas, there is a great diversity of other wildlife including small wild animals as well as primates.

Arrival at Kigali International Airport

As soon as you arrive at Kigali International Airport, you will be received by one of our representatives. You will then be transferred to your accommodation and depending on the time of arrival, you can opt for a city tour.

Mountain gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes national park

After an early morning breakfast, you will be driven to the park headquarters for a briefing. Thereafter, together with your ranger of the day, you will hit the forest for gorilla trekking. Note that; the time taken to locate them depends on their movement as they look for food. Upon locating a family, you will be given 1hour in their presence as you enjoy them do their daily activities. During the one hour, you will observe and learn a lot about them before returning to dine and then sleep. Don't forget to take videos and photos to take back home for remembrance.

Golden monkey trekking - Cultural encounter

After breakfast, you will assemble at the park headquarters for a briefing about this monkey trekking activity. Later, together with your trekking gears and drinking water, ascend in the forest to track the golden monkeys. However, this activity is also done with the guide of an armed ranger for safety reasons. Here, you will be amazed by interesting facts about these golden monkeys making your safari tour memorable. In the evening, enjoy the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village to have a taste of the history and culture of Rwanda. Actually, some of the members of this cultural village are former poachers who depended on the forest for survival. You will be entertained by their folk songs and dances therefore feel free to engage in some of their activities. Afterwards, head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Transfer to Uganda

Having an early breakfast, check out of the lodge and start your journey to Uganda. You will head direct to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Gorilla trekking - Batwa cultural encounter

Have an early morning breakfast then head to the headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers. As indicated earlier, Uganda hosts half of the mountain gorilla population thereby giving the greatest gorilla experience. Later, hit the forest for  gorilla trekking where you will be given 1 hour in their presence observing them go about their daily activities. Afterwards, head back to the headquarters for a gorilla trekking certificate award. You will later head back to your lodge, freshen up, have lunch and a power nap. In the evening, you will go for a cultural encounter by the Batwa pygmies who were once forest dwellers. However, these people used to live in harmony with these great apes until they were evicted out of the park to reserve it for wildlife. Listening to their forest stories, enjoying their fork songs and dances will leave you with the greatest memories. Later, retire off for dinner and overnight stay.

Return back to Kampala/Entebbe

Having you morning breakfast, start off your journey to Kampala/Entebbe marking the end of safari.

Permits

In Rwanda and Uganda Gorilla trekking is done throughout the year. Gorilla permit goes for $800 per person in Uganda while in Rwanda it goes for $1500 per person. Note that; you can only book a gorilla permit through a fully registered company.

Requirements for the safari 
  • Gorilla trekking permits.
  • Proof of Yellow fever vaccination.
  • Good physical, fit health and mental condition.
  • Uganda Visa which can be got on arrival at the Airport.
  • Travelers must be at least 15 years old on the day of the trekking.
  • Travel & Health insurance arranged from your home Country.
  • Hiking shoes.
  • Water proof Jacket.
