This 3 Days Birding Lake Mburo National : takes you bird watching to Lake Mburo National Park, one of the most perfect parks in Uganda for a birding safari including wildlife. This park is the closest to Kampala and a real treasure to birders! The landscape is fabulous for bird watching. Over 313 different types of birds are being recorded in this park; these include; the shoebill stork, White-winged Warblers, Black-billed Barbet, Crested Francolin, etc.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Leave Kampala for Lake Mburo National Park

Early in the morning after breakfast, our bird guide will pick you up from your hotel/lodge of residence so as to transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. As we transfer there will be various stop overs looking out for certain bird species. The Wolly-Necked Stork, Lilac Breasted Roller and Ruffaous Bellied Heron are among the birds of interest on this transfer. Stopping at the equator for photography and stretching up will be worthy while on this birding route in Uganda. We shall later have lunch and thereafter proceed as we continue with our birding safaris. Dinner and check-in at the lodge.

Day 2: Birding in Lake Mburo National Park

We shall have a morning birding on foot along the park trails with an armed ranger then back to our lodge for breakfast, after this we proceed for a game and birding drive which gives us higher chances of viewing mammals like Zebras, Impalas, Elands, Topis, Buffaloes among others, as we do birding we focus our attention on the search for the Red Faced Barbet, Coqui Francolin, Brown Chested Plover, Tabora Cisticola, Lesser Blue Eared Starling, Buff Bellied Warbler, Red Headed Weaver, Black Shouldered Cuckoo Shrike, Sulpher Breasted Bush-shrike, Green Capped Eremomela, Bare Faced Go-away-bird, Red Billed Wood Hope and more acacia associated birds. After lunch in the afternoon we shall go for a boat ride in search for the African Finfoot, White backed and Black Crowned Night Herons, Giant Kingfisher etc. Thereafter we shall go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Return to Entebbe

Early in the morning after breakfast, our birding on this day will depend on the flight time or where we spend our night. There are good spots and we look out mostly for species that were missed where the Papyrus Gonolek might be among. We shall have lunch on the way.
