This 8 Days Uganda Explore Safari: takes you to Uganda’s savannah grassland National parks which are Murchison Falls National Park also referred to as Kaberaga Falls, Uganda’s largest protected area and one of the most exciting to track animals, bird watching, primate watching and boat cruise. Murchison Falls is the most electrifying sight of its type in East Africa, with the fast-flowing but wide Nile being transformed into an explosive froth of thunderous white water as it funnels through a narrow cleft in the Rift valley Escarpment Queen Elizabeth National Park which is a home to various mammals like the tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector and also offers visitors a chance to watch high concentrations of water animals like elephantshippos, bird watching along a launch cruise on the Kazinga and Lake Mburo National Park the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks and is home to over 350 bird species as well as Zebras, Elands, Impalas, Buffalos, oribi, waterbucks, leopards, hippos and reedbucks.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will start on journey to Murchison Falls National Park through the famous Luwero triangle and your first stopover will be in Masindi for lunch. On reaching the park, you will go to the top of the falls that makes Murchison Falls National Park so famous, this is where the water of the Nile makes its way through a narrow gorge making a thunderous sound pouring downstream in a pool of 7 metres down. This place is good for memorable pictures and taking in of the sounds and sights, including the rainbow that does not disappear, created by the mist of the falls. The top of the fall is spectacular, being so close to the falls and seeing the splendor from the top is such a wonderful experience. Later you will check in your lodge for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive – Boat cruise

After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for an early morning game drive across the savannah, along Lake Albert Delta. And what you will see, sense and feel around cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world, this is Murchison falls with its birds, Lions, elephants, hippos, buffaloes, warthogs, giraffes and much more. After the game drive at around 11:40 am you will drive back to the lodge, relax/freshen up and have lunch as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise. This will take around 2-3 hours and while on the cruise, you will be able to view different animals like the crocodiles, hippos, elephants, different bird species like kingfishers, herons, shoebill stork and much more. The boat ride will take you to the base/bottom of the falls, when you reach here you will be able to see clearly the mighty waterfalls. You can also choose to do the hike from the water’s edge up to the top of the falls if you missed it at the time of arrival into the park which costs a few dollars and it is well worth doing.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After your morning breakfast, you check out of the lodge and start on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. As your moving out of the park, you will come across some predators like herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Jackson’s hartebeests, water bucks, oribis, warthogs and hyenas are as they move out to look for food. You will have your lunch on the way as you to Kibale Forest National Park. You will check in the lodge for dinner and overnight as you prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee tracking.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking-Bigodi wetland nature walk

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by your ranger guide of the day about the dos and don’ts while with chimpanzees and later set off to the forest to look for our closest relatives.  Upon meeting them, you will be given one hour in their presence as you watch you feed, play and here you are also allowed to take some photos.  Later after lunch, you will take a guided nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuarya good site for birders and here watch out for the Great Blue Turaco, Papyrus Gonolek, herons and kingfishers among others. Other primate species to view include; the bush pigs, baboons, bush bucks and more. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 5: Cultural experience-Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you visit theAmabeere ga Nyina Mwiru cultural site, a home to a very rich cultural history attached to these rocks which form scenic caves with streams of water above them causing refreshing waterfalls for those who visit. You can be welcomed by the sweltering sound of the waterfalls, the glorious distressed waterfalls hissing out the Amabere caves.  Later you will embark on your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, having for lunch in Fort portal.

Day 6: Game game – Boat cruise

You will have breakfast early in the morning and later go for a game drive in the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you have the chance of seeing lions, elephants, buffaloes, an abundance of different bird species and more. After lunch, you will go for an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel. This two hour boat ride is great highlights were you can view lakes Edward and George, hippos, crocodiles, elephants and warthogs along the shores of the channel.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – Game drive

You will have breakfast and later set off to Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara town. You will arrive in the early afternoon and take some rest before proceeding out for the evening game viewing. On the game drive, expect to see the gigantic eland antelopes, zebras, topi, impalas, Uganda kob and Cape buffalos among others and later, relax at your lodge where you will spend the night.

Day 8: Nature walk – Transfer back to Kampala

Enjoy your early breakfast and proceed for the Mburo morning park (bush) walk in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger/guide. On this early morning guided walk; you will have the opportunity to encounter; Zebras, Giraffes and Eland, Topi and other antelope, Cape buffaloes among others. Take the Trail to the top of the hills and see Lake Mburo and beyond and from this vantage point, you will have a great view of 9 of the twelve lakes surrounding Lake Mburo National ParkThereafter, you will return to the lodge for checkout and then hit the road to catch up your flight/Kampala to your hotel.
