This 10 Days Uganda Gorilla & Adventure Safari : takes you to an adventure and wildlife experience in Uganda. The safari begins with Jinja in south-eastern Uganda, where the source of the River Nile is located. Later, proceed to Kidepo Valley National Park in search of incredible variety of wildlife in this hidden haven. Continue to the Murchison Falls National Park, renowned for its scenic beauty and the spectacular falls from which it derives its name.  Here, you will enjoy memorable game drives, a boat cruise and viewing of the mesmerizing scenery in this national park. Proceed to Kibale Forest National Park, the primate capital of the world, where you will trek chimpanzees. The climax of the Safari will be an encounter with the elusive Mountain Gorillas in the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. While here, you will also interact with the former forest people, the Batwa, who used to live in this forest before it was gazetted as a national Park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda-Transfer to your lodge

On your arrival in Entebbe, you will be welcomed and transferred by a representative and later transferred to your booked accommodation.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja -Boat cruise to the Source

Your driver will pick you after a morning breakfast and later start your journey to JinjaAlong the way you will enjoy the sight of  Mabira Forest, the largest remaining tropical forest in Central Uganda. Continue to Jinja town and upon arrival, head straight for a boat cruise  to the Source of the Nile. Here, you will witness the Nile water separating itself from the Lake, starting its journey to the Mediterranean sea. Afterwards, head back for a brief drive through the historical town before heading to your accommodation.

Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

After an early morning breakfast, embark on a long adventurous road trip to the very far north east of Uganda. You will head to Kidepo Valley National Park driving through Pian-Upe Game reserve. Enjoy your packed lunch on the way as you continue with the journey with views of beautiful landscape and some wildlife. Upon arrival, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Morning game drive-Community visit

Have an early morning breakfast then head for a morning to look out for the early risers in their natural habitat. While here, look out for lions, buffalos, cheetahs, jakals, zebras, elephants, leopards, etc. Later, head back to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for an evening community visit. In guidance of an experience local guide, you will head to the Morungole mountain ranges for the Ik cultural experience. While here, visit their asaks and odoks and here you will interact with them, taking you through their different cultural practices.  Feel free to participate in their activities as well as take photos and videos for remembrance. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After having breakfast, you will set off for the tranquil Murchison Falls National Park. The drive will take you through Kitgum and Gulu towns before reaching Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival, will be transferred straight to your lodge where you will check in and spend the night.

Day 6: Game drive - Boat cruise 

Have breakfast then proceed for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile. This basically gives you a great chance of spotting animals such as giraffes, elephants, lions, Jackson's Hartebeest and different species of birds. Afterwards, head to the dock where you will enjoy your packed lunch as you wait for your boat cruise activity. You will enjoy a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile to the base of the tranquil Murchison Falls. Here, look out for the Nile crocodile, hippos, as well as variety of bird species. After return to your beautiful lodge, and enjoy the good night’s rest.

Day 7: Top of the falls-Transfer to Kibale National Park

You will have an early morning breakfast, check out and head to the top of the falls. While here, you will have clear views of the falls, take photos and videos for memories back home. Later start your journey to Kibale Forest National Park in western part of the country. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking-Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Enjoy breakfast and later report to the headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations before tracking the chimpanzees. However, the location of the chimpanzees depends on where they spent their night. In fact, this gives you an opportunity to also see a variety of other primates as well as birds. Later, you will return to the lodge for an early lunch and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Upon arrival, check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Gorilla trekking - Batwa cultural experience

After a very early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. Under the guidance of your assigned ranger, you will hit the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. Upon locating a gorillas family, you will be given one hour as you watch do their day-to-day activities. The whole activity can last from a few hours up to a full day, depending on the location of the gorillas. Later in the evening, go an evening cultural experience of the Batwa who used to live in the forest with the gorillas. Listening to their stories and songs will leave you amazed with great memories as you take photos and videos. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 10: Transfer back to Entebbe/Kampala

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and start on your journey back to Entebbe/Kampala to catch up with your flight back home or check in your hotel.

Requirements for the Safari
  • A Visa – you can apply for the visa online or very easily get one at the point of entry into the country (airport).
  • Chimpanzee Tracking permits costs USD250 per person while Gorilla trekking permits costs USD800 per person.
  • Travel & Health insurance – This should be arranged by you in your home country before you travel.
