This 9 Days Adventure & Wildlife Safari: takes you to some of the Uganda’s best attractive places for all your adventure experience. The safari will first take you to Jinja Town where the source of the River Nile begins its journey from.  The safari will continue to the Murchison Falls National Parkthe largest national park in Uganda, renowned for its scenic beauty and the spectacular falls from which it derives its name. This safari will take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will see abundant bio-diversity of wildlife, amazing picturesque scenery and to enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel with awesome opportunities to spot water birds and animals basking on the shores. The climax of the  Safari will be an encounter with the elusive Mountain Gorillas in the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival-Transfer to the Hotel

On your arrival in Entebbeyou will be welcomed by a representative from Great Nest Image Safaris and transfer you to your place of accommodation. Depending on the time of arrival, you can opt for a city tour or just relax at your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja-Boat ride

After your breakfast, your driver/guide will pick you and drive you to Jinja in the eastern part of the country.  You will have a stopover at Sezibwa falls; derived from a Luganda phrase “sizibwa kkubo” which translates into “my path can never be blocked” and this the locals say its because it’s flow could not be stopped even with different obstacles it encountered along its 150 km long distance. Later you will continue to Jinja, take a boat ride to  the source of the Nile where you will be able to see the lake separating from the Nile and later have a brief drive through the historical town before heading to your accommodation.

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park-Ziwa rhino sanctuary-Top of the falls

After an early breakfast, we will set off for the tranquil Murchison Falls National Park. You will have a stopover at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for an on-foot rhino tracking experience and then after head for lunch in Masindi. You will thereafter transfer to Murchison Falls National Park and head direct to the Top of the falls where you will have the views of the Nile squeezing through a 7m gorge pouring down into the devil’s cauldron. This place is good for photography and you will enjoy and views and sounds of the falls. Later you will check in  your booked accommodation.

Day 4: Game drive-Boat cruise

After an early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, you will go for a morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, where you will have chances of spotting different mammal species such as giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeests and different species of birds. Later you will head to the dock, have your packed lunch as you prepare for your afternoon boat cruise. During your boat cruise on the Victoria Nile, look out for the Nile crocodiles, hippos,  variety of bird species and other animals like the elephants, buffalos at the banks of the river.  After return to your beautiful lodge, and enjoy the good night`s rest.

Day 5: Murchison Falls National Park-Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. Upon arrival, you will check in your lodge and prepare for the next days’ activity.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking – Community visit

Morning Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge where you will be allowed to have a fascinating encounter with the chimpanzees. Later you will return to the lodge for your lunch and then head out for a community visit to Lake Katwe. You will interact with the salt miners, learn the different methods of salt mining and the different kinds of salt produced. Relax at your lodge for the overnight.

Day 7: Morning launch cruise – Transfer to Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast, proceed directly to the head of the Mweya Peninsular to conduct a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel which is home to one of the largest concentrations of hippopotamus, as well as herds of elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife that come to drink from the river. The Kazinga also attracts a tremendous variety of bird species including the African Eagle, Open-Billed Stork, and Pied Kingfishers. Thanks to the abundant birdlife that is sighted, and the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores, this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights of your safari. After the boat cruise, you will head for an evening game drive and enjoy the stunning sceneries over the Albertine rift escarpment, the beautiful savannah grasslands and have a possible dip in the pool. You will have packed lunch and then transfer to your lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you will spend the night as you wait to track the forest gentles the following morning.

Day 8: Gorilla trekking

The most exciting day of your safari! The briefing is at 8 am and you will learn about gorilla etiquette. Then you will start walking and hiking in the impenetrable forest until you find the gorillas. For one hour, you are allowed to watch those majestic giants! Depending on the duration of the track you can either relax in the afternoon at the lodge and just enjoy the view or go for a walk around and explore the village or walk up to the highest football field with the best view ever. Also today, you will carry a packed lunch.

Day 9: Transfer back to Entebbe

Our guide will drive you back to Entebbe where you will relax before catching your departure flight.

Standard 4X4 Safari Vehicles

Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari vehicles. Each Safari vehicle comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up 6 people with their luggage also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.

Requirements for the Gorilla Trek Uganda & Wildlife Safari

  • A Visa – you can apply for the visa online or very easily get one at the point of entry into the country (airport)
  • Chimpanzee and Gorilla trekking permits – You can apply and secure these online but experience has shown that it is better coordinated when you send money to the tour firm to handle it for you at no extra cost to the standard fee (USD700)
  • Travel & Health insurance – This should be arranged by you in your home country before you travel.
