6 Days Uganda & Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari: takes you to both countries and allows trekking gorillas in either country or in one country. You will visit popular National Parks such as Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for gorillas or golden monkey tracking; this park was the very first National Park to be created in Africa, it later became the base for the American naturalist Dian Fossey to carry out her research into the gorillas. This Park is best known for the mountain gorilla. Other mammals include: golden monkeys, black-fronted duiker, buffalo, spotted hyena and bushbuck. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is among the most visited National Parks in the country and is popularly known as home of mountain gorillas which are among the endangered species in the world today. Besides mountain gorillas, there is a great diversity of other wildlife including small wild animals and primates such as red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, L’Hoest’s, black & white colobus monkeys, baboons and much more.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport

As soon as you arrive at Kigali International Airport, you will be received by one of our drivers and guide who will then transport you to the city of Kigali for your lunch after which you will head to Ruhengeri Volcanoes. The Volcanoes are part of the wide Virunga Mountain which has various peaks such as the Karisimbi, Bisoke, Sabyinyo and Muhabura. It is home to the endangered mountain gorillasalong with the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda and D.R. Congo. You will thereafter head to your booked accommodation.

Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes forest

After an early morning breakfast, you will be driven to the national park headquarters for briefing. Thereafter, you will begin trekking gorillas into the Volcanoes forest where you will find them and be amazed by the sheer size of the Silverback, their communication skills as well as behavior. During the one hour you will spend with these gorillas, you will observe and learn a lot about them before returning to dine and then sleep.

Day 3: Dian Fossey’s grave/Golden Monkey Tracking

On day 3, you will tour the beautifugolden monkeys or opt to drive directly either to Gisenyi, visit Ross Carr’s orphanage, Lake Kivu, walk to Lake Bulera, hike the Bisoke or Muhabura volcanoes, walk to Dian Fossey’s grave, or alternatively visit one of the local schools and the local community projects. You will then return to the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Uganda

After an early breakfast you will be driven to the city of Kigali and if time allows, briefly tour Kigali city before being driven off to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda. You will later have dinner and sleep.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi


Following an early morning breakfast, you will go gorilla trekking and enjoy views of the huge silverback gorilla, besides various other wildlife species. You will spend one hour with the gorillas, observing them go about their daily activities, and then have a guided nature walk in the afternoon along the River Mayanja trail or alternatively visit the local community. You will retire off for dinner and sleep.

Day 6: Return back to Kampala

You will be driven from Bwindi to Kampala on the morning of day 6 after your breakfast, marking the end of the 6-days Uganda-Rwanda gorilla trekking safari. You will arrive in Kampala late in the evening.

Standard 4X4 Safari Vehicles

Our standard mode of transport is by road and we use 4×4 Safari vehicles. Each Safari vehicle comes with a professionally trained driver/guide with fuel for the whole safari. We also have very comfortable super customs which can carry up 6 people with their luggage also have small vehicles like Alphads, Harrier and much more that can carry 4-5 people.


In Uganda Gorilla trekking is done throughout the year and a Gorilla permit goes for $700 per person while in Rwanda it goes for $1500 per person and all these are payable through the Uganda Wildlife Authority or through our Company.
